The Last Painting of 2011 by September McGee, American Impressionist

"The Blues Singer II"
14" x 11" oil on museum panel

I wanted to finish off 2011 with a painting that spoke of the flavor of another wonderful year now ending.  Interestingly it ended up being one of my paintings of musicians.   But then again, what better ending!

She took three nights at the easel, when she dries I will most likely
tweek a few things here and there...in the interim....

May your song be sung with passion, joy, love and magic

and....

May 2012 be the year of miracles for you!

Blessings,

September McGee

Happy Miraculous Monday from September McGee Studios

"Couch Series - Tawnya #1"

On this Miraculous Monday I wanted to share my new oil painting of this gorgeous woman, inside and out, who posed for me while her husband cooked dinner for us - crab legs and vegetables!..and let's not forget the bubbles!!

How lucky can an artist get? Tawnya posed in another outfit and after a costume change, we moved to their living room to take these pictures. The lighting was perfect and as soon as she sat down, the photos were simply magic!!! This woman has so many different looks and each time she turned her head a new look emerged. This was truly one of those amazing nights artists dream of. YES a truly miraculous evening: great company; fabulous food and taking home treasured photos for creating masterpieces!

I have a penchant for figurative works and I just love to paint women, one of God's loveliest creations! This painting took a while to come to its fruition. Now that I have figured out the composition and palette I am pleased with the results. "Couch Series - Tawyna #1" is an oil on linen, 24" x 18".

Thank you Tawnya. Thank you Mike. You both ROCK!

Monday Blessings,

September McGee

Mid Week Musing with American Impressionist Artist September McGee

"Cafe Series - Lunch at the White House - The Gold Bracelet"

This is a brand new painting from a brand new series!
"Gold Bracelet" is an original oil on museum panel of a beautiful woman who posed for me at the White House Restaurant in Anaheim, CA.  The painting is created with a warm palette of color and loaded with fun impressionistic strokes. The model, donning her luncheon hat, is enjoying a glass of Chardonnary.  Her gold bracelets seem to sparkle in the light.

It was so much fun creating this painting of this gorgeous woman!  I enjoyed painting her sultry eyes and blonde hair and she was a wonderful model.

This painting is not yet shown on my website.  For further information please email me at: smcgeearts@aol.com

Magical Monday Musings with Artist September McGee

"Cafe Series - Brown Eyes"

This is a brand new piece! Just completed!
I had worked on this piece a while back and left it until now.
Many times a piece needs to sit before it is finalized.
This is a pastel painting on board of a lovely woman
who is a wonderful friend.  She has a sweet and endearing
demeanor and always has only kindness to offer everyone.

It was an honor to have her pose for me.  Her eyes tells
the story!

Monday Musings with American Impressionist Artist September McGee

"Couch Series - Reflections"

This is one of my favorite paintings of
all times and I thought it was appropriate
to post it on this Monday in May!

This piece represents my work when I am
totally committed to just the rendering
in front of me with no agenda, just
enjoying the creative process.
When I am painting like this - in the zone-
as they say, it is so much fun, freeing up
all the creative energies that are flowing
through me and I wish every piece
would find me in this place.

A bit of a departure from my more
rendered figurative pieces,
"Reflections" is truly a painting
I view proudly.

On this magical Monday I wish us all
genuine creativity from the soul
with an openness and trust that
by letting go we find our way!

Monday blessings!

EXCITING MUSIC AND ART NEWS!!!

In honor of Conductor Carl St. Clair's 20th Anniversary
with the Pacific Symphony Orchestra
a special dinner and concert was held in his honor
 on May 18, 2010.

The two paintings shown above were
donated to the Pacific Symphony
by National Award Winning Artist
September McGee and gifted to
Honorary Chairman, William Gillespie
and Conductor Carl St. Clair to honor both
 men for their amazing contributions
to the Pacific Symphony Orchestra.
William Gillespie, Honorary Chairman
received the painting "Conductor Carl St. Clair"
and the painting "Violinists #1" was
gifted to Maestro Carl St. Clair.

John Forsyte, President of the Pacific Symphony
presented the two paintings to Bill and Carl
at a special dinner held at
Mastros Restaurant prior to the concert.

Following dinner the guests walked to the
Renee and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall
where they were treated to a spectacular,
and exciting evening of music including: Joshua Bell, violin,
Christopheren Nomura, Baritone, Benjamin Pasternack, piano,
the Pacific Chorale and more.
Conductor Carl St. Clair gave the performance of a lifetime
as the concert hall was filled with magic and music, from Mozart, Mahler,
Mendelssohn, Ticheli, Bernstein and Beethoven.
It was truly a sensational night captivated with music and memories!!!!!

To complete these two paintings and donate
them to the Pacific Symphony was such an honor.
The combination of art and music is a blessing
of creativity!
Music plays an important role in all my creations and I
am simply in awe of the musicians and equally as grateful to all
at the Pacific Symphony Orchestra who worked
diligently to present such a fabulous evening!!!

Grazie Mille to all at the Pacific Symphony Orchestra!

Happy Mothers Day from American Impressionist Artist September McGee

Garden Series - Reading in the Garden

This is an oil painting of me and my
daughter in my sisters' garden.
As a single mom reading was one of
our favorite ways to end the day.
  It was always a special
time to bond, learn and just be
together.

Today she is grown and although
I no longer read to her we do share
many special times together and
I treasure each and every one of these moments.

Being a Mom is probably the greatest
honor I have ever been given.
Certainly the road has had its bumps
and lumps, but the journey has been
filled with a love that is unmeasurable
and words have not been formed to
decribe the special feelings I hold
dear in my heart.

I wish all the Moms in the world
a very Happy Mother's Day!

This painting is dear to my heart.
"Reading in the Garden" is part of the
Van Tine Collection.

Blessings,

September McGee
