Thankful Thursday Creations with American Impressionist Artist September McGee

"Couch Series - Reading in the Afternoon"

Isn't it just grand when you can flop on the couch and read
your favorite book?
This is an oil on linen.  My daughter Kailee posed for me to
create this painting and the light just fell perfectly!
The rich colors of the couch and pillows offset the white of
her dress and the peacefulness of the piece leaves you with a
nice feeling.

Today I wish you a wonderful thankful Thursday and hope you
find time to do some of your favorite things.

Mid-Week Creations with American impressionist Artist September McGee

"Sunset Dinner"

This is a special painting created for the Laguna Beach Visitors Bureau for
their Dining Guide Cover!

Sunsets are some of the most amazing creations in this world,
especially over the ocean.  I wanted to capture the essence
of  the warm sunset colors behind the romantic seafood dinner.

With summer approaching and all the tourists soon to arrive
I want to invite everyone today to take time to:

see the sunset tonight
hug a friend
be kind to a stranger
love yourself
smile often
laugh
love

Terrific Teusday Creations with American Impressionist Aratist September McGee

    "Music Series - The Viola"

This is an oil on Senso linen of a viola player I just had to capture.
The lively impressionistic strokes seem to add to the music
you can almost hear emanating from this piece.

I love music and it goes hand in hand with my paintings.

Today I wish you music that makes your soul sing
and art that makes your heart smile.

Tuesday Blessings!

Monday Musings with American Impressionist Artist September McGee

"Couch Series - Reflections"

This is one of my favorite paintings of
all times and I thought it was appropriate
to post it on this Monday in May!

This piece represents my work when I am
totally committed to just the rendering
in front of me with no agenda, just
enjoying the creative process.
When I am painting like this - in the zone-
as they say, it is so much fun, freeing up
all the creative energies that are flowing
through me and I wish every piece
would find me in this place.

A bit of a departure from my more
rendered figurative pieces,
"Reflections" is truly a painting
I view proudly.

On this magical Monday I wish us all
genuine creativity from the soul
with an openness and trust that
by letting go we find our way!

Monday blessings!

"Pacific Symphony Orchestra - Violins #1"
original oil on Senso linen

EXCITING MUSIC AND ART NEWS!!!

In honor of Conductor Carl St. Clair's 20th Anniversary
with the Pacific Symphony Orchestra
a special dinner and concert was held in his honor
 on May 18, 2010.

The two paintings shown above were
donated to the Pacific Symphony
by National Award Winning Artist
September McGee and gifted to
Honorary Chairman, William Gillespie
and Conductor Carl St. Clair to honor both
 men for their amazing contributions
to the Pacific Symphony Orchestra.
William Gillespie, Honorary Chairman
received the painting "Conductor Carl St. Clair"
and the painting "Violinists #1" was
gifted to Maestro Carl St. Clair.

John Forsyte, President of the Pacific Symphony
presented the two paintings to Bill and Carl
at a special dinner held at
Mastros Restaurant prior to the concert.

Following dinner the guests walked to the
Renee and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall
where they were treated to a spectacular,
and exciting evening of music including: Joshua Bell, violin,
Christopheren Nomura, Baritone, Benjamin Pasternack, piano,
the Pacific Chorale and more.
Conductor Carl St. Clair gave the performance of a lifetime
as the concert hall was filled with magic and music, from Mozart, Mahler,
Mendelssohn, Ticheli, Bernstein and Beethoven.
It was truly a sensational night captivated with music and memories!!!!!

To complete these two paintings and donate
them to the Pacific Symphony was such an honor.
The combination of art and music is a blessing
of creativity!
Music plays an important role in all my creations and I
am simply in awe of the musicians and equally as grateful to all
at the Pacific Symphony Orchestra who worked
diligently to present such a fabulous evening!!!

Grazie Mille to all at the Pacific Symphony Orchestra!

Terrific Teusday Creations with American Impressionist Artist September McGee

"Under the Red Umbrella IV"

It is suppose to rain today here in Laguna Beach, CA,
so I thought this painting would be
perfect for Terrific Teusday!
I just love the color red. It is such a fun
color to paint with and lends so much
vibrancy to the walls of your home.

I really enjoy the rain and I thoroughly
enjoy painting my Rainy Day series.
This is an oil on panel.

Have a Terrific Teusday!

Monday Musings with American Impressionist Artist September McGee

"Streets of New York - El Miro Cafe II"

                                                    This is one of my
                                            favorite scenes in New York
and I captured it first on film,
then completed this oil on linen
painting with
impasto brush strokes and
an impressionist flavor.

Today is a great day to start
new and fun creative projects
and the best way to do that is
to get out and do it!
Change begins within and all the dreams
we have been harboring in our souls
need to find their way to fulfillment.
The best medicine we can give ourselves
is to be the best person we can be
in all things we do, whether they be
simple chores or huge dreams.

Be your best today and
always and go get your dreams...
they are waiting for you!

Monday Blessings!

Thankful Thursday Creations with American Impressionist Artist September McGee

Ballet Series - Seated Ballerina

This is a pastel on board of a beautiful
ballerina who posed for me with grace
and poise. I wanted to capture the
beauty and simpleness of a dancer
at rest with her reflection in the mirror.

This painting was just accepted into the
Hudson Valley 79th Annual Exhibition
in New York.  They usually only accept
about fifty pieces, so I am thrilled that
mine was chosen for this prestigious
show which runs July 2 through July 30, 2010.

On this thankful Thursday I count my
blessings for creativity, friends, family,
and all the good I experience in my life
today and always.

Thankful Thursday Blessings!

Wonderful Wednesday Creations with American Impressionist Aritist September McGee

Cafe Series - The Red Dress
Private Collection

This is an oil on panel of a beautiful
woman as part of my Cafe Series
and purchased by an even more beautiful woman!

I love to paint with the color red!
Years ago few women dared to wear red.
Today it so wonderful to see this color
being donned by women everywhere.
Red is certainly a color of passion and
even Feng Shui includes this color
in making your home balanced.

Let's be bold and passionate today
about what truly makes us excited and
happy.  Step out of your box today
and do something you have always wanted
to do, but haven't yet.
Have the most incredible liberating
day and spread your joy and
freedom to everyone you meet.

Wonderful Wednesday Blessings!

Monday Magic from American Impressionist Artist September McGee

Ballet Series - Bella

This is an oil painting on linen
of a little ballerina who is so
adorable! I just couldn't resist painting
her and capturing the moment.

This painting is available through
my gallery in Sedona, AZ
Exposures International Gallery
on Highway 179.

We are never to young to begin
anything and we are never to old
to try something new.
Today on this magical Monday
dance...dance while you
can! It's good for the soul,
the body, the heart
and keeps you young.

Check out this new site I am featured on too!

Happy Mothers Day from American Impressionist Artist September McGee

Garden Series - Reading in the Garden

This is an oil painting of me and my
daughter in my sisters' garden.
As a single mom reading was one of
our favorite ways to end the day.
  It was always a special
time to bond, learn and just be
together.

Today she is grown and although
I no longer read to her we do share
many special times together and
I treasure each and every one of these moments.

Being a Mom is probably the greatest
honor I have ever been given.
Certainly the road has had its bumps
and lumps, but the journey has been
filled with a love that is unmeasurable
and words have not been formed to
decribe the special feelings I hold
dear in my heart.

I wish all the Moms in the world
a very Happy Mother's Day!

This painting is dear to my heart.
"Reading in the Garden" is part of the
Van Tine Collection.

Blessings,

September McGee

Thankful Thursday, a day for gratitude with artist September McGee

Cafe Series - Ruby

This is an oil on panel of one of my
favorite models. I love the way the
eyes and mouth turned out and
the overall look of the piece
makes me happy to be an artist.

Even better, I met this amazing woman
who purchased this painting and it
was such an honor to get to know
her and learn about her creative
side, which is music, and
share creative moments together!

I am grateful to be an artist and
I am honored and grateful to get
to meet the wonderful people who
purchase and enjoy my art!

Blessings!

Wonderful Wednesday Creations with American Impressionist Artist September McGee

Laguna Beach - Key Hole Cove

This is one of the most beautiful spots in
the world! Lucky me I get to walk by
here every day on my exercise stroll.
I do thank the gods for this gift
and for my gift of creativity which
I do not take for granted.
I believe a true artist can paint
anything.  You just have to believe.
What you believe about yourself
is what you become.
Believe great things.
Dream BIG...so BIG
it makes you feel excited.
Take that excitement and
go out in the world
and go get your dream!

This painting is an oil I did for
the Laguna Beach Visitors Bureau.
You can find it on their Map catalogue.

Come to Laguna Beach and
see the beauty and find your
dreams!

Blessings today and always,

"Streets of New York - El Miro Cafe II"

I love New York!
It's a city of electricity, fun, flavor
excitement and people...everywhere.
This is an oil painting on linen
depicting people on the sidewalk
near El Miro Cafe just as the rain
was beginning to fall.

Wishing for peace today and
safety for all...everywhere.
May we all find it in our hearts
to stop violence and learn
that love is the only answer.

Blessings to you and

Monday Musings with American Impressionist September McGee

"At the Met Series - A Visit with Monet"

I love the Metropolitan Museum in
New York! It houses some of the most
amazing art work in the world!!!
This series - At the Met grew from
my many visits and watching
people stand in front of masterpieces.
Each painting seems to draw in the
viewer and invites them to linger,
enjoy as they lose themselves in
the work of art.

This is an oil on Senso linen
of a woman having a visit with
Monet in his gallery at the Met.
She is a lovely woman and how
lucky am I she was wearing a red scarf
with a red purse!

May all your creations today
big and small
be full of the wonder and joy
of the unlimited potential
within you.

Happy Monday Blessings!

September McGee
